Distressed Sales

By mid 2009 one-third of overall housing sales were distress sales, according to the National Association of Realtors. This figure includes both foreclosures and "short sales" and in either case the property, most likely, has not been maintained to high standards and, in some instances, damaged.

Although this market provides very attractive prices, it requires having strong technical ability to quickly assess the condition of the property.
